Elements
from currency and images
associated with money feature
prominently in much of your work.
In the past, you have referred to
them as sacred symbols. What are
your attitudes toward money and
what role does it play in your art?
Commerce
is one of the subtlest
forms of interaction binding all
cultures together. In different ways all
cultures utilize commerce as a
means for survival, which makes it an
intimate component of life. I think
there are some very good reasons
why we have decorated our own
currency with symbols and motifs
past down to us through the ages. As
a commentary on how we presently
live, some of these images are now
hidden or obscured. Like money,
pills represent an element that is a
part of our everyday lives. The idea
behind ‘Current Currency for the
Emancipation Prescription Nation’
was to create a piece of futuristic
currency.
