DREAMSCAPES
Paul Strand once said, “The artist's world is limitless. It can be
found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away. It is
always on his doorstep.”

Never has this been more true than it is today. At the heart of
iPhoneography lies the fact that our cell phones are always with
us: a device that allows life itself to appear on our screen
anywhere we go, giving us a powerful set of tools with which we
can interpret it, embellish it or create something entirely new.

Combine this ability with thousands of apps allowing a rich,
multi-layered approach to image editing, and you end up with a
rapidly growing group of highly prolific artists whose work is not
just a record of daily life, but a transformation of those moments
into a unique vision of the world.

This selection of works is tied together by the broad theme of
dreamscapes. From ordinary every day objects and sights that
are presented with a unique perspective, to whimsical, surreal
environments and mysterious figures, to highly manipulated
images of a darker nature — all these works have come from
deep within the sub-conscious — from the place where dreams
are born. In the end, it is this ability to bring our deepest
imaginings out into the open quickly, and on a daily basis, that
lies at the heart of what makes the new medium of mobile art
so compelling.

MISSION
IPA
iPhoneArt.com launched in Santa Monica, CA at the end of 2010, and was quickly listed by Mashable.com as one of the top 10 essential
iPhotography sites while still in its early stages. Since then, it has become the fastest growing online gallery and network for mobile artists,
offering monthly awards for great work as well as an annual iPhoneArt grant, awarded to the most deserving artist of the year.

Named for the device which first opened the door to this exciting new medium, iPhoneArt.com is dedicated to displaying, promoting,
discussing and rewarding the creative works of avant-garde artists and amateur dabblers everywhere — while also providing a platform for
developers to demonstrate what their apps can do for a dedicated audience. IPA is not just a place to post work. It is an open and welcoming
community where artists come to learn, discuss apps and techniques, critique each other’s work, and share what they create. The quality of
work is a daily inspiration for many as we all strive to define as well as expand the boundaries of this new medium.
